The best preserved of these settlements are in Barhal and İşhan located on stupendous Kaçkar Mountains (Kaçkar Dağları). A winding path on a mountain slope leads you to Artvin, an authentic province of the Black Sea Region. Camili, also known as Maçahel, was designated as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 2005 and it is the one and only biosphere reserve in Türkiye.
