Istanbul Technical University | ABC Future

Established in 1773 under the name of Mühendishane-i Bahri-i Hümayun, the university was renamed Istanbul Technical University in 1944. The university has signed many firsts such as the launch of Turkey's first cubic satellite ITUpSAT1, the producing the first Turkish-made communication satellite TURKSAT-3 USAT, designing arıkopter Turkey's first Helicopter and producing Turkey's first electric minibus. It is also the only member of the American National Academy of Sciences in engineering. 2 out of 3 Turks of the European Academy of Sciences, the first Turkish participating in the non-gravity media flights by NASA and 12 full members and four honorary member of the Academy of Sciences of Turkey are from ITU. ITU with its 5 active campuses, science, technology and art, with international expertise, leader of Turkey's most respected universities in the area was established with the vision to be a technical university.
