Amasya University has a 37-year history. The university was founded in 1975 with the Amasya Vocational School and in 1982 it became the Education School affiliated with Ondokuz Mayıs University. In 2006, it operates as an autonomous university. Amasya University, which was established in Amasya, located in the inner region of the Central Black Sea Region, and has taken its name from the city where it is located, has been progressing to become one of the important science and research centers of the Black Sea as an independent university since 2006. In addition to creating opportunities for students in the city to benefit from all the opportunities of the city, it also gives a great chance for students coming from outside the city to recognize many architectural works made before and during the Ottoman Empire. It helps students to engage in cultural and social activities outside the classroom with developing university student clubs and sports facilities.
